Are you in first or second year in college? Have you an opinion on tax? You have?! Great - then take part in our competition which will not only give you an insight in to tax in Ireland, but will also build some really important skills for your CV! And don't worry - you don't have to be a tax guru or even have studied tax to take part!
There's two stages to the competition.
Stage 1 involves you getting together in a team and making a submission to us on some topical tax questions. Your team can be made up of students from different colleges (i.e. you don't all have to be attending the same college). Your submission can be in video or written format - whatever works best for you! The closing date for the submission is 5pm on Friday 16 March 2018.
Stage 2 involves the top 3 teams making a presentation of their submission to a team of tax experts here at the Institute in the week commencing 2 April 2018. The winning team will be announced on the day.
The final round of "Your Take on Tax" 2017 was held on 30 March 2017, and it was a closely contested battle between the three final teams - Team Horizon, Team Edge and Team Prometheus.
The winning team was Team Horizon - Marie-Louise O'Callaghan, a second year Business and French student and Tom Healy, a second year Business and Economics student, both studying at TCD.
Well deserved runners up were Team Edge - Cathal Muldoon, a second year Business Studies student in DCU and Ronan MacFhlannchadha, a second year Computer Science and Business student from TCD, and Team Prometheus - Shane Clune and Anthony O'Shea, both second year Business and Legal students in UCD.
